TURA: World Soil Day on the theme ‘Stop Soil Erosion, Save Our Future’ was celebrated on Thursday by CAU-KVK of South Garo Hills at its campus in Chokpot. SGH Deputy Commissioner HB Marak, who was the chief guest spoke on the importance of soil and on farm production of organic inputs like vermin-compost and Berkeley’s method of composting.
A total of 150 farmers from ten different villages of South Garo Hills attended the programme where 50 soil health cards and leaflets were distributed.
