Workshop on social media rights

SHILLONG: The Human Rights Cell of Shillong Commerce College in collaboration with IQAC organised a one-day workshop on “Freedom of Expression and Speech with Reference to Social Media” on Saturday.
The resource person was Shishir Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Law Department, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong.
In his deliberation, Tiwari gave a clear cut picture of the role of social media with relation to freedom of speech and expression and the legal implications involved. The Principal of the College, JB Massar gave the welcome speech. The workshop was attended by all teachers and students of the college. The meeting was chaired by A Kharmawphlang, convener, and the vote of thanks was delivered by S Khongwir, member, Human Rights Cell.
