Stir over CAB begins, Congress, Left reject Bill

Imphal: Series of protests have started in Manipur after the BJP led government decided to introduce the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the ongoing Parliament session.
Congress, Left, MPP and other political parties have rejected the Bill. Manipur People against Citizenship Bill (MANPAC) MANPAC has launched a three-day stir beginning on Sunday to oppose CAB.
MANPAC convenor Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said the stir will continue. People came out in the streets and shouted slogans against CAB. All activities will be suspended from 1 am of December 9 till 3 am on December 11.
AMSU president, Laishram Athouba said that AMSU will support the strike called by NESO and impose general strike on December 10. As the day is observed as International Human Rights Day, the observation will not be disturbed it stated. The Congress party on Sunday stated that it is opposed to CAB. (UNI)
