TURA: Preparations are in full swing for the hosting of the annual two-day Tyisam Festival which will begin on December 16 at the Golden Beach on the banks of the Simsang River in Baghmara of South Garo Hills.
The Tyisam Festival has a unique feature where events such as beach sports including Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, sprint on sand and various other events will be held, drawing thousands of people to the fiesta.
This year, unlike yesteryears, Fish Mela will also be held side by side where the local fish varieties available in local ponds and fisheries will be sold and showcased.
The industrial exhibition, highlighting various local handicrafts and bamboo-made products, will be the added attraction of the festival.
The festival will also feature events like folk song competition, western song competition, fancy dress competition for kids, baby show, talent show, cooking competition and other indigenous games. Local bands and musicians, including those from other parts of Garo Hills, will also perform during the festival.
Organisers of the event have informed that tents will also be made available in the beach for those who want to camp at the venue during the two-day event.
