Nongpoh: The Chief Adviser to the state government, DD Lapang, inaugurated three developmental schemes at Umling, Ri Bhoi on Wednesday.
The schemes include the office of the Umling Women Welfare Association, constructed under SRWP scheme (2017-18) at Rs 2,50,000; ICDS Anganwadi Centre –II, Umling, constructed by Social Welfare department in convergent with MGNREGA scheme 2019 at Rs. 7,00,000 and the Bharat Nirman Rajiv Gandhi Sema Kendra (BNRGSK) Umling VEC building, constructed under MGNREGA (2012-2018) at an amount of Rs. 10,00,000.
Lapang marked the inauguration by cutting the ribbons and opening of plague in all the three new buildings.
Speaking on the occasion, Lapang said that for development to take place, unity and understanding is the only way to achieve.
He hoped that the schemes will cater to the need of the recipients, and urged them to take good care of these buildings for their betterment. Lapang also appreciated the contemporary scenario of Umling village.
He added that young students are the future of the society and they have a long way to go for a brighter tomorrow.
He cited the biographies of great leaders like Napoleon, Ambedkar, Mary Kom, who are the paradigm for young students to copy if they wish to succeed in life.
Local MLA MB Syiem also handed over the work order of Rs 2,00,000 from SRWP of 2018-19 to the headman of Umling village for completion of community hall construction.
