SHILLONG: A group of bike borne protestors on Saturday struck terror in some parts of the city as they allegedly vandalised shops and roughed up the shop owners.
As per eye witnesses, a group of bikers shouting anti-CAB slogan and demanding ILP, forced closing of shops, assaulted people and vandalised shops at Polo, 4th furlong and Demseiniong.
According to one of the shop owners, who did not want to be named, a group of bikers suddenly appeared out of nowhere and started shouting at the shop keepers to close their shops.
Soon they started pelting stones and smashing things with iron rods and batons.
The shop keeper said that as he could not pull the shutter down completely, the miscreants pelted huge stones through the portion between the shutter and the ground. He sustained leg injuries.
This is the second time that the shopkeepers and shops were targeted.
Earlier, a group of boys appeared in Police Bazar, assaulted vendors, vandalised shops and even burnt the garments outside the shop.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Matsiewdor War Nongbri said the administration was informed about the incident and the district SP is on the job to find out who started these activities. The CAB was passed in Parliament on Wednesday and soon after violent protests started in Shillong and other states like Assam and Tripura.
