SHILLONG: The Lympung ki Sengkynthei has expressed deep concern for the disruption of peace and order in the state during the last few days where some people were also injured and hospitalised as a result of the agitation in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
In a statement issued here, the organisation said it supports the demand for ILP to protect and safeguard the rights of the local people.
The women’s organisation appealed to Home Minister Amit Shah to listen to the voice of the people and grant implementation of ILP and hoped that the governor would give assent to the ordinance on the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act.
Trade body demand
The Meghalaya Joint Council of Trade Unions & Associations, in its meeting on Tuesday, demanded that internet connectivity be restored immediately so as to facilitate the needs of the student community and mitigate the hardships of general public at large.
The meeting resolved to extend its solidarity and support the pressing demands of the stakeholders.
It also appealed for peace and tranquility in the state.
