Clan elders write to Shah

Shillong: A conglomeration of Clan Elders (Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur) have filed a petition to Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to consider the extension of ILP in Meghalaya & new amendment in the Sixth Schedule.
The clan elders also urge the government through Shah to make necessary amendment on Paragraph 20 of the Sixth Schedule by inclusion of all areas under the Municipality of Shillong within the ambit of the Sixth Schedule.They also expressed gratitude that the Sixth Schedule Areas has been exempted from CAA.
Non-Khasi community oppose CAA: A meeting of non-Khasi community was convened by Rocky Hek at Shillong Club to discuss and explain about the impact of the Citizenship Amendment Act and the importance of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state especially in the present situation when CAA is already cleared.
The meeting discussed about the present situation in the city and express desire for peace and harmony.
It unanimously decided to oppose CAA as it would give an opportunity to illegal immigrants to enter the state.
The meeting also supported the demand for implementation of ILP.
