RKM organises playday festival to remember U Soso Tham

SHILLONG: Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sohra organised the ‘U Soso Tham Playday’ festival to commemorate the 79th death anniversary of U Soso Tham, a great scholar of Khasi literature from Sohra, at Iewthymmai football ground, Khliehshnong, Sohra on Wednesday.
Around 1,030 students of class V from 39 feeder schools under Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sohra, participated in the festival.
RS Gill, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests was the chief guest besides guest of honour Plainingson Lyngdoh, Inspector of Boilers & Factories. Shembhalang Kharwanlang, Headman, Dong Khliehshnong, Biloris Lyndem, president, RK Mission MC, Sohra and G Parthasarathi, industrialist from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu were among the special guests on the occasion.
Children of the feeder schools presented Khasi songs and music during the play day.
Calisthenics, thematic martial arts, kids yoga, Khasi harvest dance, etc. were the special attraction of the event.
Ramakrishna Mission Upper Primary School’s contingent of Nongkynrih was adjudged the best school contingent on the occasion.
