SHILLONG: It has been nearly twenty days since Pravin Bakshi was removed from the post of secretary of the Health and Family Welfare department and the government, however till now, has not appointed any other officer in the same post. Sources said that the delay in appointing the secretary of the department is also affecting the services of the GVK EMRI 108 ambulance service which has resumed recently after a long agitation by its employees.
Sources said that many ambulances were down for a long time and many of them need to be serviced for which funds are required. In this regard, the GVK EMRI 108 has also taken up the matter with the state government.
It is also learnt that the finances for the GVK EMRI have been pending since September and plenty of problems have occurred ever since the secretary’s post turned vacant. The ambulance service also has to manage fuel and other operation costs for providing its services effectively.
