Assembly employees donate blankets

SHILLONG: The officers and staff of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, on Monday, donated 200 blankets to the caretaker of Shanti Bhavan, Missionaries of Charity, Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi, here on the premises of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
The Speaker of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Metbah Lyngdoh, handed over the blankets to the Missionaries of Charity in the presence of MLA, Mawsynram Constituency, HM Shangpliang; and Commissioner and Secretary, Assembly Secretariat, Andrew Simon.
Delivering a speech, Lyngdoh referred to the chaos that followed after the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (now Citizenship Amendment Act) was passed and said that people wondered whether Christmas can be celebrated amidst the turmoil.
He said that it was God’s guidance to have all the 60 MLAs decide on the Inner Line Permit agenda during the special session on December 19.
