Editor,
There are many poisonous elements on this earth. They include plutonium, mercury, francium, arsenic etc. What do we say if a “self-styled” teacher teaches his group of students that “carbon” is the only dangerous element and he does not mention about the toxicity of other elements? Yes, students will blindly believe him. They will carry that wrong information until they gain insights and learn from other sources. Of course, the students pursuing higher studies will definitely recognize all such fake teachers around.
The above is an analogy to a letter — “RSS vicious agenda” by Sujit De (ST, Dec 25, 2019) from Kolkata, West Bengal – the state which has been on the boil due to the corrosive nature of its citizens. All right-thinking people know what all had happened in Mamata Banerjee’s state and the author’s backyard some weeks back. The past few years are marked by the rise of “infiltrators” from across the border. Are they not far more diabolical and ominous? If Sujit De is serious about knowing what all happened during the past years then I advise him to Google because time and space constraints prevent me from discussing them here. But Sujit De’s attention is hardly drawn to such violent and terrorist activities by the “imported citizens”…. and how they have been proving detrimental to the indigenous Bengali. Therefore, we must always oppose CAA in Meghalaya which shares 443 Km border with Bangladesh. It should not at all become another Assam or Tripura or West Bengal. Probably some readers of ‘The Shillong Times’ are still aware that Sujit De had written a letter two year ago, suggesting that large-hearted India should “welcome Rohingyas” which he did by cleverly quoting Swami Vivekananda and the ancient ideals. Can we welcome such refugees in our state who have earned the dubious distinction of creating terror in Myanmar?
If anyone wants to know what the Rohingyas and the Bangladeshi infiltrators have done to West Bengal then don’t rely on Mamata Banerjee and her coterie. Many top media houses also deliberately suppress all such news. The best will be if you could visit villages like Murshidabad , Malda, Uluberia, Howrah and hear the sad stories directly from the sufferers. The native residents here are forced to live between the devil and the deep sea. Hardly any FIR is entertained against those special citizens. Has our prolific letter-writer, and his types, ever written about the plight of the “natives” who have truly witnessed endless terror activities and bloodbaths? In this subject one can discuss endlessly and write pages after pages.
Hence, let’s be honest and think who is posing a threat to democracy and who is dangerously vicious to the nation. This will not be known when the noise of hypocrisy is so high! Hence I pray to the Almighty that one may not lose his/her power of “judgment” to differentiate between who is less or more dangerous and who is dangerously vicious!
Yours etc.,
Salil Gewali
