SHILLONG: Light drizzle halted the match between Team United and All Boys’ Club on the Rilbong Sanatan Hindu Dharmasabha premises here on Friday. However, the game resumed shortly after the drizzle stopped and team United defeated their opponents in what seemed like an easy win. Also, Vintage, Royal Strikers and Free Soul Brothers registered wins during the 7th Ardhendu Chaudhuri day & night tennis ball cricket tournament.
In the first match played between Vintage and Pynthorbah SC, the latter won the toss and elected to field first. Vintage scored 59 runs in 6 overs, while Pynthorbah only managed to reach a total of 32 runs, handing their rivals a comfortable 27-runs victory.
In the second match, Team United won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 58 runs in 6 overs. In reply, All Boys’ Club scored 39 runs in 6 overs and Team United won by 39 runs.
In the third match of the tournament, played between Shillong Press Club and Royal Strikers, the Press Club won the toss and elected to bat first.
Scoring 19 runs in 6 overs, Press Club began defending the small total while, opponents Royal Strikers blasted their way through to victory with 5 wickets in the bucket.
In the last match, R.S. & C.C. batted first and scored 68 runs in 6 overs.
Free Soul Brothers, in reply, chased down the daunting target scoring 69 runs to defeat their opponents.
