Suarez renews wedding vows with Messi on guest list
Maldonado (Uruguay): Barcelona forward Luis Suarez and wife Sofia Balbi have renewed their wedding vows at a star-studded gathering in Uruguay attended by Lionel Messi among others. The celebration to mark 10 years of marriage took place in a luxury tourist complex near the coastal city of Maldonado, about 130 km (80 miles) east of the capital Montevideo. A crowd of football fans, including many wearing the Barcelona strip, gathered near the entrance as Suarez’s clubmates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba arrived along with Ballon d’Or winner Messi and his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo. Brazilian star Neymar was also there, local media said. Uruguay striker Suarez and Balbi exchanged “rings inscribed with their respective names, made from white gold and diamonds”, according to a statement. The couple met when Suarez was 14 and started seeing each other soon afterwards. They were married in 2009 and have three children. (AFP)


Ronaldo, Djokovic have fun time
New Delhi: Enjoying the festive season, sporting legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic were seen having some fun as the Portuguese soccer star posted a video on social media of him teaching the tennis icon how to jump and head the ball to score a goal. “Teaching Novak Djokovic how to jump!!Was a pleasure to see you and train with you my friend!!” Ronaldo said in an Instagram post. The pair were having fun as Ronaldo set the Serbian a target where he would run along with Djokovic and jump together. Ronaldo’s Juventus are behind Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan only on goal difference as they prepare to welcome sixth placed Cagliari next year on January 6. Ex Manchester United and Real Madrid star forward Ronaldo has netted 10 goals in 14 league games this season. Djokovic, meanwhile, will take part in the Australian Open from January 20. Boxer Sangwan gets one year ban
New Delhi: The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) on Thursday handed former Asian silver medallist boxer Sumit Sangwan a one-year suspension for failing a dope test. “Sumit Sangwan banned for 1 year with immediate effect for consuming the specified prohibited substance,” NADA DG Navin Agarwal posted on his Twitter handle. Sangwan, who took part in the 2012 London Olympics, will not be able to participate in the Olympic qualifier trials. Sangwan, whose ban starts from Thursday, tested positive for acetazolamide, which is listed as diuretics and masking agents under S5 of WADA’s 2019 Prohibited List. “The Hearing Panel holds that since Athlete in the present case was negligent in consuming the specified prohibited substance without verifying its composition and elements and elements and without disclosing same in the doping form, he is liable for sanctions under Article 10.5.1 for ineligibility period of 1 year,” the order stated.
