MAWKYRWAT: A KSU member was found dead in South West Khasi Hills.
Teiborlang Marwein (23) of Nonglang village was found dead on the roadside of Bri-Iawngei at Tynnai village, on Thursday morning.
Marwein, was an active member of the KSU, Nonglang unit.
He was found dead with both his hands and legs fractured, sources said.
According to the relatives, Marwein left home around 10 pm on January 1, to meet his girlfriend at Tynnai where he was suspected to have been murdered.
Police sources said that it is suspected to be a murder case as his hands and legs were fractured. A case has been registered and investigation is on, they added.
“Many people have been called for interrogation to find out the culprits, but till now we have not been able to arrest anyone,” the official said.
Murder condemned
The KSU South West Khasi Hills has condemned the murder of its member and warned the murderers to surrender to the law before the Union takes its own action.
President of the KSU South West Khasi Hills district, Forwardman Nongrem said the Union condemned such cowardly action against Marwein.
Nongrem also called upon the police to be serious in the investigation and immediately arrest the culprits involved in the crime. He also assured that the Union will give its full support to the Mawkyrwat police while conducting probe.
While stating that the Union suspects foul play, Nongrem said, “Criminals cannot hide their crime for long and sooner than later the truth will come out,” Nongrem said, adding that the Union will continue to follow-up the incident.
Nongrem said the death of Marwein was not only a loss to the family members, but also to the Union as well as to the Jaitbynriew.
