JNU students, teachers link hands against campus violence

NEW DELHI:  The JNU continues to bristle with defiance as students show no indication of slowing down on their protests. On Monday afternoon, students and several teachers formed a human chain on the campus to express their opposition to violence.

The students are getting the support of many of their teachers, who have come out in solidarity. Some teachers feel that Sunday’s violence was preplanned. Asif Zahri, a Professor in the Urdu department, said: “Yesterday’s incident took place with proper planning.”

“We’re here for the peace of the campus,” a woman professor at the site said.

On Sunday evening, violence on campus left several students injured and many others traumatised after an attack by masked, metal and wooden-rod-wielding assailants on the Sabarmati hostel, sparing neither girl students or teachers.
