Police to scan residents of rented houses in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Assam Police have decided to take stock of inmates of rented houses in Guwahati city and in the first phase identity of residents of rented houses will be verified in areas under four of the city police stations of Satgaon, Hatigaon, Gorchuk and Geetanagar.

This was informed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Bhashkar Jyoti Mahanta during an interaction with members of citizens committee under every police station in the city as well as a section city resident.

The DGP further informed that volunteers selected by citizens committees will be engaged in experimental basis for regulating the vehicular traffic along with police personnel under several police stations in the city.

Pledging that Assam Police will act swiftly in dealing with crimes committed against women and children, the DGP called upon the citizens’ committees to extend cooperation to the police in the sustained drive against drug abuse, anti-social activities.

He also assured the citizens committees that the problems faced by them would be resolved in a phased manner.
