SHILLONG: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP) has asked the government to revoke the notification appointing MS Rao as the chief secretary and appoint Hector Marwein instead.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, FKJGP chief organiser Kitboklang Nongphlang said the act of the MDA government to allow a junior IAS officer to take charge reveals that the government wants to suppress the rights of the indigenous people.
He went on to add that the act of the state government favours bureaucrats who have political back-up.
Nongphlang threatened that the organisation will resort to “other steps” to press the government to appoint Marwein as the chief secretary.
