Nongpoh: More than a dozen suspected illegal immigrants were on Thursday sent back by the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP), Khrumdiengiei circle after they failed to prove their identity. On inspection, the organisation detected the illegal workers while they were engaged as daily wage labourers at Umbir, in Ri Bhoi.
CoRP president Binel Nongrum said that as none of them had proper documents to prove that they are citizens of the country, the organisation asked them to go back from where they came with a stern warning that they should not come back.
The organisation has urged the village dorbar and the people of the district to check and verify documents of immigrants before giving them work.
