SHILLONG: East Jaintia Hills police last year made huge recoveries of contraband items making an arrest of 48 persons.
SP Vivekanand Singh said that during the year 2019, 23 criminal cases were registered.
During the year, police recovered 415 grams of heroin, 19 kgs of Yaba tablets, 40 kgs of ganja 30 grams of Nitrazepam and 400 ml of Codeine.
The cumulative street value of these recoveries is Rs. 8-9 crores (approx).
Continuing the battle, this year, the police have already recovered 8.63 kgs YABA tablets and 15 grams of heroin.
“It is our commitment to eradicate this menace completely from the district. We will need the continued support and co-operation from the public in this endeavour,” the SP said.
