Rich tributes to Netaji in city

SHILLONG: The Greater Shillong Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committee (GSNSCBBCC), as part of the 123rd birth anniversary celebration of Netaji, organised a candle lighting programme, at the State Central Library premises here on Thursday.
The participants paid homage and floral tributes to Netaji at his statue on the venue.
The general secretary of the committee Pankaj Deb gave the welcome address which was followed by unfurling of the national flag by the president, Naba Bhattacharjee, and singing of the National Anthem.
A patriotic song was performed by Sukanta Chakraborty.
Local MLA Mohendro Rapsang released 123 balloons to mark the 123rd birth anniversary of Netaji.
Many people from different localities, especially the people of Mawprem and RR Colony, came out with a Prabhat Pheri.
