BSF seizes cattle

SHILLONG: On the eve of Republic Day, BSF Meghalaya seized 367 heads of cattle, which were intended to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
To ensure high degree of vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border, the BSF Frontier Head Quarter Meghalaya, during the last one week, conducted ‘Ops Alert’ exercise to ensure incident-free celebration amidst intelligence inputs of infiltration of insurgent cadre.
The BSF also celebrated Republic Day at various headquarters in the state.
Flag unfurling ceremony was held at 8.30 am at BSF HQs, Umpling, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. Kuldeep Saini, IG, BSF, unfurled the national flag, addressed the gathering and expressed pride in the rich cultural past of the country.
