Customs dept destroys narcotics

SHILLONG: The Customs Commissionerate (Preventive) NER, Shillong along with other Customs formation in the country, has destroyed a huge quantity of narcotics and drugs on January 24 and 25 simultaneously. In the North Eastern Region (NER), narcotics and drugs worth Rs11,33,57,019 were destroyed at Guwahati, Imphal, Agartala and Dimapur.
Guwahati Customs for the period 2017-2019 has seized 4,391 kg of ganja, 49 kg of Ephedrine, 57,100 strips of Pseudoephedrine, 20,000 bottles of Phensedyl and 180 grams of Brown Sugar.
Imphal division recovered 10 grams of heroin, 242.36 grams or 2,388 tablets of Methamphetamine and 4896 tablets of Amphetamine/ Methamphetamine.
Agartala seized 54,00 bottles of Phensedyl, 320 bottles of Eskuf Cough Syrup, 4410 strips of Spasmo Proxivon Plus and 17000 numbers of Yaba tablets.
Lastly, the Dimapur Customs division had seized 34.698 kg of ganja.
