SHILLONG: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) held a meeting in which presidents, secretaries of zonal committees and district committees and leaders of central executive committee, youth and women’s wing were present.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, PDF president Banteidor Lyngdoh said that discussions were made on strengthening the party henceforth. “Suggestions were heard on how to strengthen the party in the days to come,” he said.
He said after the elections, some of the zonal committees are not continuing anymore as there are no leaders. He said that the current meeting was held with an aim to re-design the purpose of the party.
“The strengthening of the party should not be limited only during the elections,” he said.
When asked, he said that the zonal committee of Ranikor did not discuss on whether they will field candidate or not and said that there should be proper discussion with regard to the Langrin election.
On the other hand, Lyngdoh said that the party still opposes the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and said that the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma should speak to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to exempt the entire state.
He urged the chief minister to expedite the matter and take them into consideration if he goes to meet the union home minister on the demand for ILP.
