SHILLONG: A trio — which started a cycle expedition from Nainital, Uttarakhand, on the theme ‘Save Earth Free from Pollution’ – arrived in the city on Thursday.
The trio, comprising of three friends, viz. Sagar Dewrari, Rishabh Joshi and Pankaj Bisht from RS Group, Nainital, was welcomed by ProCycling, Shillong, as they reached the hill station.
“The people are amazing, the weather was very cold but it feels like home (Nainital). Beautiful scenery all around, once we entered Meghalaya,” said Dewrari, one of the cyclists.
Their message is to stop the use of plastic and make surroundings plastic-free.
According to a statement, the trio is set to create a record in India and Asia for longest cycling (15,000 km) by covering all states and two union territories.
They have, so far, travelled 18 states in 75 days, covering a distance of 9,000 kilometres.
The trio also was previously on a cycle expedition from Nainital to Leh Ladakh on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’ in 2018, covering 2,500 kilometres.
