SHILLONG: The first phase of Census 2021, i.e., house-listing operations and updation of National Population Register (NPR) will commence in the state from April 1 to May 15.
A statement by the Joint Director of Census Operation Meghalaya, S Lingasamy, said Meghalaya’s second phase, i.e., Population Enumeration will be done from February 9 to 28, 2021, with a revisional round of five days from March 1-5, 2021.
“This Census, for the first time, will be canvassed by the enumerators and supervisors in a mixed mode, i.e., paper, mobile app and self-enumeration modes,” the statement said.
On this regard, a three-day training for Census 2021 and updation of NPR was organised for the Directorate of Census Operations, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh at Administrative Hall, Yojona Bhawan, Secretariat.
The training programme, which commenced on Tuesday, was inaugurated by Director of Census Operations of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, MHA, Joram Beda.
Senior officers from Directorate of Census Operations, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh along with all other officials participated in the training programme.
During the training, focus was given on the concepts and definitions of the Census along with the introduction of the House-listing Operation Census 2021 App, NPR App and Census Management & Monitoring System (CMMS) Module.
A training on House-listing Block Mapping App — which would be used for carving out of Enumeration Block using GIS technology during the upcoming Census 2021 and updation of NPR — was imparted by Lingasamy.
The Census 2021 exercise will kick-start with state-level meeting followed by district-level meeting and training of all other Census functionaries, the statement said.
