SHILLONG: The Union Budget does not allocate anything for Meghalaya though the NPP-led government is supporting the NDA-led BJP government at the Centre.
Under Culture and Tourism section, Meghalaya does not figure regarding the improvement of known heritage and archeological sites.
In the North East, there is only one project for Assam.
The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that five archaeological sites would be developed as iconic sites with on site museums and they are Rakhigarhi (Haryana), Hastinapur (Uttar Pradesh) Shivsagar (Assam), Dholavira (Gujarat) and Adichanallur (Tamil Nadu).
The Centre will support setting up of a Tribal Museum in Ranchi (Jharkhand).
The Budget does not speak about any central assistance for the National Games 2020 to be hosted by Meghalaya.

In addition, there is only one paragraph directly mentioning about the North East.
It read, “Northeastern region has a very high priority in Government’s developmental agenda. Government is ensuring smooth access to financial assistance from multilateral and bilateral funding agencies to help introduce innovative and global best practices. Central government has effectively
used an online portal to reduce gestation period of online. This has improved the flow of funds to the North East region”.
