Ri Bhoi village gets new road

NONGPOH: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, RM Kurbah on Saturday inaugurated the internal road of Umbuda village constructed under MGNREGS scheme of 2018-19 with Rs 10.87 lakh. A roadmap of the village was also unveiled during the programme including fifteen numbers of dump sewages at the village.
The inaugural programme was also attended by the Sordar of Elaka Nongpoh, Pa’iem W Syiem, Chairman of Nongpoh Town Committee, CB Syiem and others.
Speaking at the programme, the Deputy Commissioner lauded and appreciated the initiatives taken by Umbuda village in administering and completing the motorable road for the benefit and welfare of the people. She also appreciated the steps taken by the village dorbar for bringing in the rules and regulations for the smooth and peaceful functioning of the village at large.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Umbuda village has been selected as one of the model villages in the district in pursuance with the NGT direction that all villages should have a compost pit for each and every household for decaying wastes.
The Deputy Commissioner congratulated the village dorbar for the implementation of the compost pit.
She also stressed that in order to make the society strong and successful, it needs to have a clean thought, a clean environment and a respected attitude.
The Deputy Commissioner also sought collective support from all to make the village clean and also for the uplift of the community as a whole.
