Caving-trekking training expedition starts today

SHILLONG: The first season of caving-trekking training expedition will begin from Wednesday.
The initiative organised by Youth Hostels Association of India, Meghalaya State Branch, will conclude on February 17.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the Chairman of Meghalaya Branch of Youth Hostels Association of India, ED Nongsiang, said participants are from Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka, and other states.
Nongsiang said the intention is to bring more tourists to the state and this will also be an occasion for them to familiarise themselves with the state and the people.
“Besides, this is one way of national integration”, he said. As many as 368 persons from the age group of 15 to 65, divided into seven groups, will tour Sohra, Laitryngew and Tyrna and branch out to various places.
