5.6 magnitude quake strikes Japan

Tokyo: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on Thursday struck off the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The temblor occurred at around 2020 hrs local time (1120 GMT), with its epicenter at a latitude of 36.4 degrees north and a longitude of 141.6 degrees east, and at depth of 40 km. The quake logged 2 in some parts of Ibaraki Prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7. So far no tsunami warning has been issued. (PTI)
