Shillong: The petrol pump in Chokpot, South Garo Hills has issued a clarification regarding GSU’s accusation against duping of customers by using non-functional digital machine.
Saying that the complaint against the retail outlet is ‘purely for personal gain’, a representative of the petrol pump, James R Sangma, issued a clarification saying that it is ‘false’ that the pumps are delivering a litre less to customers.
He said though the dispensers are operated manually, correct amount of fuel is shown as approved by the department of Legal metrology and IOCL company authorities.
He also mentioned that the old pumps will be replaced within a week with an automated pump if there is no delay in the installation as the new pumps have to be ordered from Guwahati.
Sangma also said the petrol pump does not stand to gain in cheating their customers.
The GSU had earlier demanded the immediate repair of the non-functional machine and threatened to take necessary steps against the authorities if the same is ignored.
