APS Rout new CIC in Assam

GUWAHATI: Dr. A.P.Rout, IPS (Retd.) and Kanak Ch. Sharma, ACS (Retd.) were sworn in as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and State Information Commissioner of Assam, respectively.

Assam Governor Prof.Jagdish Mukhi administered them the oath of office at a solemn function held at Darbur Hall in Raj Bhavan on Monday.

The Governor administered them the oath of office under Section 15(3) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 enacted by Government of India.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Chief Secretary, Government of Assam Kumar Sanjay Krishna, leader of the Opposition in Assam Legislative Assembly Debabrta Saikia, Principal Secretary, Administrative Reforms and Training Niraj Verma, former State Chief Information Commissioner Himangshu Shekhar Das, former State Information Commissioner Pinual Basumutary, GAD Commissioner Dr. M. Angamuthu, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor Sanjib Kumar Gohain Barua, Deputy Commissioner Kamrup Metro Biswajit Pegu, senior officials of the state govt., officials of the Governor’s secretariat, district administration of Kamrup Metro and a host of other dignitaries.
