TURA: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) from Salmanpara in South West Garo Hills (SWGH) has raised concern over the delay in completion of the ongoing construction of the road from Salmanpara (Sindilgre LP School) to Mellim.
According to the students’ union, the construction work was allotted to one contractor, Rikchi A Sangma, and the work was to be completed within 18 months from the date of allocation, which dates back to 2016.
The GSU, along with the general public, recently held a meeting where it was resolved to demand for the road construction’s early completion.
The union has also submitted a complaint to the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Ampati Division, urging the latter to look into the matter and facilitate the completion of the road construction before the rainy season.
