Shillong: The Joint Commissioner, Food Safety, Meghalaya has informed that the directives by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) mandate use of fortified wheat flour, edible oil and salt in midday meal (MDM) and ICDS programmes.
A release on Monday advised all wholesalers and distributors to procure fortified brands of edible oil from manufacturers of edible oil for marketing and distribution in the state, as this would improve availability of fortified edible oil in the market, which will not just help the general public to access fortified oil but also enable safety-net programmes to use it in their respective programmes.
For any queries or clarifications, wholesalers and distributors may contact the office of the Commissioner, Food Safety, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Health Complex, Laitumkhrah, Shillong during office hours.
