Traffic at Mawlai bypass
SHILLONG: Mawlai MLA and Opposition Chief Whip PT Sawkmie has asked the Secretary, PWD to instruct the Superintending Engineer PWD and the Executive Engineer, Umsning Division to install rumble strips, a road safety feature in some parts of the Mawlai bypass which have already been identified for safety and also to avoid accidents. Sawkmie on Monday carried out an inspection of the Mawlai bypass along with the SP (traffic), engineers and the headmen of Mawroh Umshing and Mawiong Rim to ease traffic congestion as the current restriction has created a lot of problems for the vehicles plying from Mawlai petrol pump to Mawiong Rim. The intention was to remove the no-entry zone from Mawkynroh-Umshing to Mawiong Rim to ease traffic congestion.
