SHILLONG: Following the attack on two local youths at Pyrkan near Shella on Sunday by suspected Bangladeshis, a demand to augment vigilance by both the Border Security Force (BSF) and the state anti-infiltration authorities has been made to ensure such attacks are not repeated.
On Sunday, Denglang Diengdoh (19) and Harikanto Sargari (21) were attacked by five suspected Bangladeshis. Diengdoh was grievously injured in the attack and hospitalised while Sargari escaped with minor injuries.
Condemning the incident, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Shella unit in a press statement urged the BSF authorities to nab the culprits, suspected to be Bangladeshis, who had entered the Indian territory in broad daylight.
They also asserted that the BSF should augment its patrolling in Shella to ensure the safety and security of the locals.
The HYC central body and the Shella unit also demanded deployment of an anti-infiltration unit in Shella to curb such aggression.
