SHILLONG: North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum blamed the closure of the Harijan Colony road for frequent traffic jams at Khyndai Lad, Motphran, Umsohsum, Mawkhar and Garikhana.
He inspected the areas on Wednesday pertaining to the new traffic arrangement from Khyndai Lad to Motphran and was accompanied by officers of PWD, municipal and traffic.
Speaking to reporters, he said that the traffic issues faced by residents of Shillong are because the government has not relocated the residents of Harijan Colony and to ensure that the road is clear to be used for vehicles. He observed that there are certain parts in the roads where the road can be widened by removing the electric posts.
