NONGPOH: Twinkle Buhphang, Headman of Umiam, slammed the statement given by the secretary of the village, John P Syiemiong, alleging that Buhphang was using the signatures of non-tribals to remain in his post as Rangbah Shnong.
Clarifying his stand, the headman stated that he had always worked for the all-round development of the village and for the welfare of the villagers since 2017, but he had no intention to continue his term as the Rangbah Shnong until people of the village came up with the decision to change their leader.
“This cannot happen with the decision of only one person of the village”, he said.
He further claimed that the statement by Syiemiong, who is also the secretary in the executive committee of the Umiam Dorbar Shnong, is baseless and false carrying intentions to tarnish his image and the scenario of the village.
With regard to the allegation that as Rangbah Shnong he had misused the signature of a non-tribal, Buhphang stated that one of the family members of Melisia Kharwanniang had wrongly signed as Aman Hajong.
But as the head of the village he had no intention to include his signature.
In the press statement, he added that holding of the post is not his intention but the Dorbar was called off for some time and it was the call of the Hima Mylliem, which he respected, and not as blamed by Syiemiong.
The Dorbar Shnong of Umiam will soon call for an executive meeting that will include the people of the village, the headman added.
