Training on Census in Mawkyrwat

MAWKYRWAT: The Directorate of Census Operations, Shillong, in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mawkyrwat organised a two-day District Level Training for Census 2021 at the DC office last week.
The resource persons for the programme deliberated on various legal provisions of census, roles and responsibilities of census functionaries, management and monitoring through CMMS, etc., relating to the ensuing census operations scheduled to be held in the entire state from April 1.
The training was attended by principal census officer being the deputy commissioner, district census officer being the additional deputy commissioner, sub-divisional census officer, additional district census officer, deputy district census officer, charge officers being the block development officers, assistant charge officer, technical staff and other officials from NIC, who will be the core district-level team overseeing census operations.
Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo informed that the training for field trainers, supervisors and enumerators will take place in the next couple of weeks.
The DC also informed that the population census will be conducted in two phases, first phase for House-listing and Housing Census Operation which will start from April 1 till May 15 and the 2nd phase of population enumeration will begin from February 9 till 28.
It was earlier also informed that the census exercise this time in Meghalaya will directly count the transgender people in the first phase.
In the last census, the transgenders were counted in the second phase, however, this time they would be counted in the first phase.
