SHILLONG: Three KSU members including newly elected organising secretary Ostarnic Marbaniang were on Tuesday summoned at Sadar police station in connection with anti-CAB protests in 2019.
“The members were summoned in connection with the agitations against the CAB in 2019 and the demand for ILP. We are not surprised since we take prison to be an institution of learning and it is the duty of each KSU member to study in that institution”, said KSU president Lambok Marngar who accompanied the three members.
He observed that since the Indian government is examining the ILP demand, the law enforcement agencies have started examining the KSU members.
“It is fine as this is a part of our journey and we will keep demanding for ILP and other laws to safeguard the interest of the people”, Marngar said.
He added that as an organisation, they want to be constructive and have nothing to do with the police department, but warned that summons issued from time to time against their members might not be a good ploy.
