SHILLONG: The chairman of Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO), Robert Kharjahrin, has said that they have taken suggestions from people who have said that the focus of the movement should be on protection of the unique identity and safeguarding tribal rights.
In a statement issued here, he said that the state should continue to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and support the demand for Inner Line Permit (ILP).
He said that people suggested strengthening the Sixth Schedule, implementation of the MRSSA (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 and that the state government should be aggressive in pursuing ILP.
He added that the district councils in the state should work hard and make issuing of licenses more stringent.
Kharjahrin said that the CoMSO will take more suggestions in the days to come and hold a meeting next week on CAA and ILP.
