Situation shows signs of improvement: Conrad

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conard Sangma on Tuesday said that situation was slowly coming back to normalcy and the suspension on mobile internet in Jaintia Hills would be discontinued while in other parts it would be reviewed.

The Chief Minister said this after a series of meeting with the Home Minister, DGP, SP, DC and later with the Governor, Tatagatha Roy on Tuesday.

Talking to newsmen, the Chief Minister said, “After taking all the necessary and precautionary measures we have seen that  in past two days the situation has been slowly coming back to normalcy and there has been no any serious incident that took place in the last two days although some sporadic incidents”.

 Pointing out curfew has also been relaxed in most parts of the state, the Chief Minister said that night curfew would continue for sometimes but the period would be reduced.

On suspension of mobile internet services, the Chief Minister said, “We will take a call on internet connectivity this evening and if felt appropriate it will be lifted but in certain areas like Jaintia Hills region it will be lifted for sure”.

“In Khasi Hills and Shillong city the government will take a call by 10 pm tonight,” he added.
