TURA: The West Garo Hills District Magistrate in an order given under Section 144 CrPC has informed that guidelines of Home Quarantine will be strictly followed in view of Coronavirus already being reported in other states and other parts of the country.
The official informed that Dr Mukrang Terang, Senior Medical and Health Officer, Tura has been appointed as Nodal Officer for contact tracing and enforcing home quarantine with the assistance of a police team.
“A stamp would be marked on the right palm along with relevant date considering 14 days quarantine period. The list of all such persons in home quarantine will be published on the website (http://meghalayaonline.gov.
While there is fear that certain people might not adhere to the home quarantine endangering public safety, the order warned that any breach of the order would invite action under section 188 IPC.
The order reiterated that there is no cause for panic and that persons under home quarantine are neither tested positive for COVID-19 nor at high risk. The order comes into force from March 22 and will be effective for 14 days.
Meanwhile, in a separate notification, the Deputy Commissioner has requested the customers of all the banks to avoid going to the banks for doing transactions like withdrawal and remittances in view of the corona virus unless it is absolutely necessary. The customers are instead advised to use digital platforms like internet banking, mobile wallet ATMs etc for their basic banking needs to maintain social distances.
