TURA: Employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) under the banner of the Non Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) have served an ultimatum till March 31 to authorities to release their pending salaries while warning of further agitations in the future if their demand stands ignored.

The salaries of altogether 24 months of the employees are pending and various agitational programmes staged by the employees in the past have failed to evoke a positive response from the authorities. In order to get their demands realised, the employees have organized a peace rally, Sit-in demonstration, Non-Cooperation Movement, donned black badges to work, staged a pen down strike as well as gone on a mass casual leave which have all proved futile with the authorities turning a deaf ear to their pleas.

The decision to serve the ultimatum comes as last resort after all other steps taken by them to pressure the authorities failed to make an impact.
