Committee on food supply
NONGPOH: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah, on Thursday, constituted a special committee which will look after regulations and supply of food grains to all villages and localities in the district. The DC, in an order, informed that the grocery shops can open from 9 AM till 1 pm on Friday for the public to buy essential commodities even as she requested people to maintain social distancing. Meanwhile, she has urged those who have decided to stay in their hostel, work, institute, etc., as well as those who are stranded en route to Ri Bhoi to share their particulars including their contact number and complete address on the WhatsApp number 9436337807. Farmers who have their produces that are ready to be sold in the market can contact the helpline number – 1917/977040444, she said.
Surplus stock in Iewduh shops
SHILLONG: The Acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem u Pa’iem Ainam Manik Syiem has asked the shopkeepers of Iewduh to inform the Hima Mylliem if they have stock of food items remaining in their shops. The shop keepers can call the numbers – 7005732949 /7005591578 -to inform about the stock that they have and the location of their residence. The Hima Mylliem will then inform the district administration which will do the needful to prevent the vegetables and fruits from rotting.
Public asked to follow directives
SHILLONG: The Seng Khasi Seng Kmie has directed all the Seng Khasi branches in different parts of Hynniewtrep to strictly follow the directions of the state government and Centre to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). In a statement issued here, the Seng Khasi Seng Kmie suggested that the programmes of the Seng Khasi be postponed. It also conducted a religious ceremony to ward off the epidemic at Lumsohpetbneng on March 24. They prayed for protection of the state and the world as a whole.
Curfew to continue in WJH
JOWAI: The Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills has informed that the curfew to contain coronavirus infection will continue till March 28 as announced earlier. He warned people not to venture out and if found, violators will be punished as per the law.
