SHILLONG: The Achik Youth Welfare Organisation (AYWO), North Garo Hills (NGH), has expressed discontent over the district administration turning a deaf ear to the demands made by the citizens to resolve the hurdles faced by the people in the district in the midst of the lockdown.
In a statement on Saturday, president, AYWO, NGH, Jumbo M Sangma, said that in view of the lockdown, the essential supplies have been exhausted.
“The rations and supplies have all gone out of stock in all the wholesale shops and with the restrictions for plying of vehicles, it has become impossible for procurement of these essentials from Assam also,” the statement from AWYO said.
“The deputy commissioner has locked himself in his residence with no avail to contact him and the supply superintendent also is out of station,” it added.
Denouncing such act, the organisation also alleged that the deputy commissioner and supply superintendent have not answered their calls when contacted.
“Contacting both these officials are in vain as they are not answering to calls made. While the deputy commissioners of the neighbouring districts are endlessly trying to provide and ease services for the people of their district, ours is behind locked doors of his residence. This ignorance and disregard of the deputy commissioner is condemned to the highest form,” the statement said.
He also called on the government to direct the district administration to look into the hurdles faced by the people.
