Anglers held for trespassing

NONGPOH: Amid lockdown due to the COVID-19, a group of four persons in Ri Bhoi District were apprehended by the Saiden Socio Cultural Club and village Dorbar of Saiden as they ventured out for fishing at Umpyrli river on Saturday. The four persons who were apprehended include Eveningstar Lyngkhoi (25), Batkupar Lyngdoh (24), Klanding Lyngkhoi (40) and Phroling Marwein (50) all hailing from Pahamriniai village. From their possession, two daos, two torch lights, huge number of sedative plant roots, locally known as ‘Kharu’, a catapult and three numbers of traditional fishing cages were recovered. All four were later handed over to the officials of the Wild Life department, Nongpoh.
