SHILLONG: The secretary of Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep has maintained that only the poorest of the poor should avail the contributions donated by NGOs. In a statement issued here, the secretary of the Synjuk, RL Blah said that poor families who are daily wage workers who do not avail any benefits from the government such as ration cards are the rightful beneficiaries to such contributions. According to Blah, there are poor families who are in possession of BPL cards or NFSA ration cards and those who get 5 kg rice at Rs 3 should not avail the freebies. The Dorbar shnong should identify such families and oversee such donations so that the rightful families are not deprived, he added.
