Police against April Fool’s Day pranks

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Police has warned against circulation of Aprils Fool’s Day pranks or messages amidst the lockdown in view of coronavirus pandemic.
“Circulating of April Fool’s messages, pranks or jokes, especially about the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), the lockdown that has been imposed, the promulgation of curfew, etc., will be stringently dealt with in accordance with the provisions of law,” a statement released by police on Tuesday said.
Urging everyone to be “more responsible and courteous during this time of crisis”, the police, in the statement, also warned of strict actions against the ones who forward and share fake news, “which will create panic, confusion and disorder in the state”.
