SHILLONG: The 21-day lockdown in the entire country and the growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic seem to have little effect on illegal transportation of coal which continues unabated in the state.
On March 28, police detected two trucks (NL01 L 8448 and AS01 K 0383) illegally transporting coal in violation of the NGT ban at Tongseng petrol pump in East Jaintia Hills.
A day earlier, Umkiang police in East Jaintia Hills seized two trucks (NL01 AB 2571 and AS01 GC 9925) from Kuliang village on National Highway 6.
On March 26, police detected three stationary trucks (NL01 AB 5794, NL01 7419 and NL01 AB 9291) loaded with coal at Chiruphi petrol pump in East Jaintia Hills.
